
In a virtual event on March 16, AU Conference & Partnerships Manager Adriyanna Andrèus addressed the mid-month meeting of Anchorage Against Christian Nationalism, a local chapter of the national Christians Against Christian Nationalism group. Andrèus also emceed a SRF365 webinar on April 9.
During an in-person event on March 26 at Fordham University Law School in New York City, AU Senior Litigation Counsel Amy Tai spoke on the subject of “Faith, Speech, and LGBTQIA+ Rights: The First Amendment at a Crossroads.” Advocates for Trans* Law Students (ATLS) — the nation’s first transgender law student advocacy group, aiming to provide support, community, and advocacy for transgender, non-binary, and gender-diverse students — and Fordham’s American Constitution Society co-sponsored the event.
In Durham, N.C., on March 29, AU Senior Director of Field and Organizing Brandon Wrencher spoke to the Eno River Unitarian Universalist Fellowship’s Protecting Separation of Church and State justice group. The Triangle Freethought Society co-sponsored the event.

On March 30 in Arlington, Va., Youth Organizer and Programs Senior Manager Alicia Johnson and two AU Youth Organizing Fellows — Sabene Rizvi and Mehar Thakur — attended and tabled at the Feminist Majority Foundation’s National Young Feminist Leadership Conference. Thakur also spoke on a panel.
On April 8 at a virtual event, AU Lead Policy Counsel Nik Nartowicz spoke to Iowa Atheists and Freethinkers about bills moving through the Iowa legislature and trends in state bills throughout the country. Following the presentation, a discussion about the current state of law around religious freedom and how Iowans can get involved in fighting to protect church-state separation provided participants with helpful, practical information for acting.
