Michele Medley

She/her

Michele is an Oklahoma resident and mother of three children, two of whom are autistic and one of whom is LGBTQ+. She was instrumental in getting treatments and therapies for children with autism to be covered by insurance through legislation. At times Medley attempted to meet her children’s needs through religious private schools, most of which were Catholic, but discovered these schools were inexperienced, unprepared, and unwilling to provide suitable educational opportunities to meet the needs of autistic children.

As the mother of two children on the autism spectrum, I have firsthand experience with private religious schools’ unwillingness to accept and meet the educational needs of students with autism and other developmental disabilities. I am also aware of the possible religious discrimination against LGBTQIA+ students that could harm my child and others. I don’t want my tax dollars to fund a charter school that won’t commit to adequately accepting and educating all students. Michele Medley
Congress needs to hear from you!

Urge your legislators to co-sponsor the Do No Harm Act today.

The Do No Harm Act will help ensure that our laws are a shield to protect religious freedom and not used as a sword to harm others by undermining civil rights laws and denying access to health care.
