The court’s decision today made clear that no one should be excluded from civic affairs because of their beliefs about God," said AU Associate Legal Director Alex J. Luchenitser.

“As we know from the firsthand accounts of our plaintiffs – health care providers who are on the front lines every day caring for patients – discrimination in health care is dangerous and lives are truly at stake. Confronted with these facts and the flurry of lawsuits showing how the Denial of Care Rule would irreparably harm health care providers and patients across the country, the Trump administration agreed to delay implementation."

Americans United Condemns U.S. Supreme Court’s Decision To Allow Bladensburg Cross To Remain On Public Land

“The Supreme Court’s misguided decision to allow government to play favorites and prominently display religious symbols as public war memorials dishonors our country’s veterans and the fundamental principle of religious freedom they fought and died for," said AU President and CEO Rachel Laser. "The towering Bladensburg Cross is an inherently Christian symbol that excludes thousands of non-Christian veterans and ignores the tremendous sacrifices they made."

“With the onslaught of religious refusal policies coming out of this administration, it is more important than ever that we enact legislative safeguards. This bill is critical not only because it protects those who are being discriminated against in the name of religious freedom, but because it protects our nation’s most vulnerable children from being denied a home,” said Rachel Laser, president and CEO of Americans United.
