Americans United Sponsors Essay Contest For High School And College Students

Americans United is pleased to announce that it is now accepting entries for a 2016 student essay contest.

This competition asks entrants to explain in 750-1,000 words why the separation of church and state is integral to preserving religious freedom in America’s pluralistic society. Essays must include at least one primary source and may reference current events, U.S. history or the writer’s personal experiences. Essays must also include in-text citations and a bibliography.

The contest winner will receive a prize of $500. Second prize is $250 and third prize is $100. 

All U.S. high school seniors and college undergraduate students are eligible to enter, with the exception of previous winners, finalists and Americans United employees, board members and their families. All entrants will receive a free one-year student membership to Americans United.
