Score One For Science: Astronaut (And Presbyterian) John Glenn Says Evolution Should Be Taught In Schools

John Glenn is a pretty cool guy, to say the least. The former U.S. senator and astronaut flew more than 120 combat missions combined in both World War II and the Korean War, but he is best known as the first American to orbit the earth – a feat he accomplished in 1962.

Glenn, now 93, recently granted an interview to the Associated Press, during which he made it clear that he is a religious man who supports evolution. Read more

Creating Controversy: Misguided Indiana Creationism Bill Advances In State Senate

A bill is advancing in the Indiana Senate that would “require the teaching of various theories concerning the origin of life, including creation science” in public schools.

Similar versions of SB 89 have been tried before and always died in committee. This time, though, a longtime creationism advocate – Sen. Dennis Kruse (R-Auburn) – is chair of the Senate Education Committee. He also authored the legislation. Read more
