"Congress should pass the Do No Harm Act, a simple yet critical bill designed to restore RFRA to its original intent. It will preserve the law's power to protect religious freedom, while clarifying it may not be used to harm others," AU President & CEO Rachel Laser testified before Congress.

Speakers made the case that RFRA, which was originally intended as a protective measure for religious minority groups, has been misinterpreted and distorted, first by the George W. Bush administration, then the U.S. Supreme Court and, most recently, the Trump Administration.

Members of the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate on Feb. 28 reintroduced legislation that will provide critical protections for religious freedom.
