Americans United for Separation of Church and State is currently seeking an advocacy intern to assist the field department in the national office in Washington, D.C. As an intern, you will work to protect the fundamental constitutional and civil rights of all Americans.
Americans United addresses a wide variety of church-state issues. We defend the civil rights of women, LGBTQ people, religious minorities and others against religion-based discrimination and deprivation. We challenge religious activities in the public schools, public financing of religious institutions and government-sponsored prayers and religious displays.
As an advocacy intern, you will have the opportunity to delve into a variety of writing, research and advocacy projects. Your specific responsibilities may include: assisting in legislative research, creating training webinars for Americans United chapters and activists, and assisting with general outreach and educational program development.
This position is a unique opportunity for undergraduate students interested in working for an advocacy nonprofit in the future.

Interns will receive a substantive experience with in-depth exposure to some of the most important issues facing the country. Interns are encouraged to take full advantage of the many events that take place in Washington, D.C. Written performance evaluation provided upon successful conclusion of the internship. Academic credit will be arranged if required, and a stipend is available.
