Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush has kept up an intense push for a statewide private school voucher program.

Bush, according to Florida newspapers, has set up two foundations devoted to promoting his education goals, which prominently includes voucher subsidies for religious and other private schools. During his terms as governor, Bush enacted a statewide voucher program that was eventually ruled unconstitutional by Florida courts.

The voucher drive is also receiving a boost from some members of the state’s Taxation and Budget Reform Commission, which is set to review measures that would pave the way for the revival of one of Bush’s voucher schemes.

In late January, The Palm Beach Post noted that the tax commission, which includes several former members of Bush’s staff, may place on the November ballot a state constitutional amendment that would allow public funding of religious schools and other institutions.
