As this issue of Church & State was going to press, the Trump administration released a series of proposed regulations governing “faith-based” programs in nine federal agencies.

Americans United criticized the rules, asserting that they strip vulnerable people of important protections. For example, if adopted, the new rules will remove a requirement that people using social services have a right to a secular provider. They may also subject people in these programs to unwanted religious proselytism.

Americans United is conducting a full analysis of the proposed regulations. Look for more information in the March issue of Church & State.
