Almost every day it seems that the Religious Right finds a new way to chip away at the wall of separation between church and state. But Americans United is fighting back on many fronts. In the last month alone, I have testified before Congress, debated Religious Right leaders on television and sat in on arguments at the Supreme Court in the Pledge of Allegiance case. We are pressing lawsuits against "faith-based" funding and voucher aid to religious schools. And we are monitoring and challenging the use – and abuse - of religion in Campaign 2004. To help keep you up-to-date on the latest church-state separation issues and information, we have created this weblog. Here, the staff of Americans United will work to provide the freshest up-to-the-minute information on the actions of the Religious Right, court decisions, legislative developments and reports in the media. This will be a source for quick news and analysis.
If you are not familiar with weblogs, they are an increasingly popular way of publishing on the web, one idea at a time. This simple process of publishing allows us to quickly share information with you as news happens. We will also take advantage of the growing world of weblogs to share interesting analysis of our issues found elsewhere on the web.
I hope that you enjoy using this new section of AU.org as we work to develop into a rich source of information and analysis. Please let our webmaster know if you have any questions about this weblog or our Web site in general.
