Delaware Valley & South Jersey Host Rev. Steven Baines

The Delaware Valley Americans United Chapter's South Jersey group presents Rev. Steven Baines, Assistant Field Director for Religious Outreach at Americans United in Washington, DC.  Rev. Baines will be talking about “Is Your Religion Really My Religion?: The Battle for Genuine Religious Freedom in America.” The event takes place on Sunday, October 19, from 3-5 PM in Fellowship Hall of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Cherry Hill NJ, 401 North Kings Highway.

Indiana AU to Host Religious Freedom Forum

The Indiana Chapter of Americans United For Separation of Church And State presents a Religious Freedom Candidate Forum. The chapter invited legislative candidates from across Marion County to participate in a question and answer panel regarding religious freedom and church state topics. The event takes place on Sunday, October 12th from 6-8 PM at Broadway United Methodist Church.

Story Time: Julia Learns To Disrespect Others

Last weekend, I joined my colleagues at the Values Voters Summit. It’s possible to predict much of what we’ll hear at this event. The Religious Right, populated with biblical literalists, doesn’t often update its script. Religious liberty (theirs, not ours) is under attack. Children are being corrupted by the world. And the engine for that corruption is often identified as the so-called “gay agenda.”

The Religious Right’s annual “Values Voter Summit” (VVS) takes place this weekend. Americans United staffers Simon Brown, Sarah Jones and I will be there. (Barry Lynn usually pops in too, in case anyone wants to take a selfie with him.)
