The Evolution Controversy and Its Church/State Implications

Host

Bucks County

The next meeting of the Bucks County Chapter of Americans United for Separation of Church & State will be held Tuesday, February 2, 7:00 pm, at the Doylestown Library located at 150 S. Pine St., Doylestown, PA 18901.

February's meeting will begin with a general introduction followed by a review of recent church/state issues in the news by chapter treasurer Laurent Levy.  Chapter President, Ed Joyce, will give a presentation entitled "The Evolution Controversy and Its Church/State Implications."  The talk will draw upon over twenty years of professional experience as an evolutionary paleontologist with the oil industry.  He will also present this talk at the Philadelphia Ethical Society meeting on Rittenhouse Square, February 14 at 11:00 am.  Additional information can be found at the Philadelphia Ethical Society website www.phillyethics.net.

The primary goals of the Bucks County Chapter of Americans United are twofold: Educational and Oversight.  Educationally, we give talks, sponsor tables at community and civic events and host an annual symposium.  Oversight involves being attentive to local issues that may involve church/state separation.  Involvement in our group can be at any level from simply attending meetings, to joining a committee and helping steer the direction of the chapter, to direct involvement in our community out-reach activities.  Any level of involvement is welcomed!
