Beverly LaHaye founded Concerned Women for America (CWA) with her husband, pastor Tim LaHaye, in 1979. CWA originally worked to oppose the Equal Rights Amendment and feminism in the 1980s. When that battle faded, the group took on other causes, such as opposing sex education in public schools and the teaching of evolution.

Although LaHaye no longer runs CWA, she continues to speak out against feminism and promote other Religious Right causes
