Ceremonies like graduation and other school events should be held in secular venues. Public school students should not be expected to mark important rites of passage in houses of worship where they may be exposed to unwanted proselytizing or sectarian symbols. For this reason, Americans United opposes the use of churches and other houses of worship for public school graduation and other ceremonies.
