Joseph L. Conn is director of communications for Americans United for Separation of Church and State and editor of Church & State, Americans United's award-winning monthly magazine.
Conn, a former newspaper reporter and editor, has written dozens of articles on church-state relations, focusing on topics such as religion and politics, religion and the public schools and tax aid to religion. He regularly covers congressional hearings and Supreme Court cases that deal with church and state.
Conn graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Kentucky in 1975, where he studied journalism and political science. He has been interviewed by numerous media representatives on a variety of church-state topics and has been a guest on radio call-in shows throughout the country. He has worked for Americans United since 1980.
Conn lives in Silver Spring, Maryland.
